CORGIALENIOS LIBRARY
The Corgialenios Library of Argostoli was founded in 1924, according to the will of Marinos Corgialenios, a great benefactor of Cephalonia (1829-1911). The library building collapsed in the 1953 earthquakes and was reconstructed in 1963 with the contribution of the Greek Government and the generous donation of benefactors Georgios Verghotis and Evangelos Tipaldos - Bassias. Many Cephalonian families ( Lykiardopoulos, Harokopos, Vaglianos etc.) contributed to the welfare of the Library. The Library, together with the Corgialenios Historical and Folk Art Museum, is directed by The Corgialenios Foundation, a committee consisted of selected members of the local society, under the presidency of the Metropolitan Bishop of Cephalonia.
