The film Captain Corelli's Mandolin is an ambitious Holywood production which will surely make the beauty of Cephalonia known around the world. The producers were charmed by the picturesque harbor of Sami, the magnificent Antisamos Beach, and the unique location of Dichalia. Filming took place in Cephalonia from March to August of 2000. The warm hospitality of the locals, the good infrastructure, and the natural beauty of the area, captured the hearts of the famous actors who starred in the movie: Nicolas Cage, Penelope Cruz, Irene Pappas, and many others.
